Week 7 Check In & A Vacation Celebration

This is the week that was beyond crazy and I had my first ‘cheat’. We went away to Wisconsin Dells for my daughters 4th birthday and I took the time to not worry about what I was eating and just enjoy myself.

There was good and bad to this – good is that I was able to enjoy foods that I hadn’t had in weeks. The bad is that the first cheat meal I had and so it did not agree with me so well. I’m not sure exactly if it was the contents of the meal or the fact that it was a cheat meal, but it was not worth the way I felt afterwards!

Aside from enjoying the hotel pool/waterpark and going out to eat with the family, I got quite the surprise on vacation. For a lot of people who don’t personally know my husband, you probably don’t understand what a big deal it is – but he announced he wants to do Keto with me!! We are going to work on getting the kids on this type of diet as well. I do think eliminating the sugar/carbs from their diets will benefit them as well too!

I will keep everyone updated on how this adventure goes. Here’s some pictures from our weekend 🙂

Sunday Family & Crafting

I love being off on the weekend and having family come visit. I live about an hour from my family, and while that isn’t terribly far, it can still be difficult to see them as often as I’d like. So when I get a call that they are coming to visit, the kids and I get very excited!

We were surprised yesterday with a visit from my brother, his wife, and their 1 year old daughter. We spent the day playing , catching up, and crafting. I LOVE crafting. I get that from my mom. She was a kick ass crafter. She painted. She sewed. She crotched. She could do just about anything. She passed away over 7 years ago already and all of us kids have things she made to remember her. These are things we will pass down to our children so they can have a piece of their wonderful Grandma.

Since Halloween is coming up, take a look at this haunted house she painted:

She was AMAZINGLY talented. I wish I had have the talent she had. I must have gotten at least some of my crafting bug from her though. I love to crochet, embroider, cross stitch, etc – and she taught me all of that. One thing we never got a chance to do together was work with vinyl. Cricuts were around when she was still alive, but we never understood everything that can be done with them so we had never seen the value in getting one (knowing what I know now, that was a silly notion).

Now they are even better though. You can design it all on your phone/tablet/computer and upload designs, etc. No need for cartridges anymore, although the machines still accept them.

If you’re thinking about getting one, I recommend getting the bundle. It’s got a little bit of everything to get you started. This one on Amazon is awesome –

If you just want to start out with the machine and not the entire bundle, you can just get that as well. Machine only: Cricut Explore Air 2 Mint

There are a few other things you’ll want to make sure you get if you only get the machine:

Cricut Tools Basic Set and 2 Pack Cutting Mats 12”x12” Bundle

HTV Easyweed Heat Transfer Vinyl Bundle | 20 Sheets Starter Variety Pack

Adhesive Vinyl Sheets – Variety Pack

That’s everything you need to get started.

Now, onto the projects we made this weekend. Some were for me, some for my brother. And then he left me with a list of about 15 more shirts he wants haha. Good thing I enjoy it!

Balancing It All

Some days I wonder how we do it. I wonder how we manage to cram everything we need to into a single day. Maybe that’s our superpower as adults, because there seriously not enough hours in a day. How do we make time for ourselves? I don’t know how everyone else does it, but in this house, there is so much I don’t have time for. I outsource my cleaning (mainly because I loathe it) and if I could I’d hire a chef and a nanny too! Maybe part of it is because I work full time. If things were different and I was a stay at home mom, I’d have loads more of time since my son is in school all day and my daughter a half day.

A typical day in my life is wake up, get kids ready and off to school, commute an hour to work, work my shift, commute back home, homework for kids, make supper, bath, and bed. Where is there time for anything else in there? It’s craziness. And if my life wasn’t crazy enough, I’m also in school online right now as well to get a billing and coding certificate PLUS I sell for several direct sales companies. It seems like I always am adding more and more to my plate. A few months ago I started making custom design shirts, cups, etc. Now I’ve started a blog, which I do think is kind of exciting. What’s next for me? Right now I’m not sure, but I’ll find out.
